Salam! I am a female 4 month old rescue girl from the streets of Qatar, where me and my siblings were dumped without our mum at only 6 weeks old. The vet thinks we were born at the end of September 2018, so we are still little.  I will be arriving to Chicago on February 26, 2019 with my sister Reggie to find my forever home.

I am current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

Here is my story – thanks for reading and I can’t wait to meet you!

We remember that our brothers and sisters and us were cold and hungry. A kind man kept us all safe by putting us all into a large bucket, but he did not know that we needed proper food and fed us with Cow’s milk. We grew very weak and he begged for help. The kind ladies at Paws Rescue didn’t realise what a bad state we were in and came to see us with a bag of food. One of our brothers had already died and one was very weak. They realized straight away we needed help but they had no space for us to go. They gathered us all up and took us to the vet where we stayed for the weekend, two more of our brothers and sisters died that night, we were just so weak from lack of food and we really missed our mom!  We don’t know why we were taken from her or why we were left alone but we were glad someone found us and looked after us until help came. One of the kind ladies at Paws took us to her home, she found us some space in the guard room and made it really cosy for us. She kept us safe and isolated and fed us lots, we were poorly quite a few times with tummy bugs because we were so small, and needed fluids and antibiotics but she kept us all well and soon we were fighting fit.

3 of our brothers and sisters now have their forever families and another two have their paws crossed in foster homes, hopefully their families will want them to stay there. We are still looking for our forever families, although we are happy with our foster family.

We both love to play with dogs, cats, and humans.  We especially love our foster mom and her little boy who is 7.  There are two other dogs living with my foster mom, we love them both and they let us play with them. We are also friends with the neighbour’s dog, and one of our sisters lives there too so we still get to see her. We like to fetch balls and to bring them back, and if we are called we come running. We are really good in our routine, we know when bedtime is and will trot to our special room and stay there quietly until the morning.  We love our leash walks, we are still a little afraid of big trucks but getting better every day.

Our foster mommy will be very sad when we leave because we are so good and so affectionate, and she really loves us and we trust her.  She tells us good things await us.  After all we are survivors and our lives were spared for a reason.  Could that reason be you?  We hope you will love us as much as we will love you back.

Paws Rescue Qatar is one of just a couple non-profit organisations in the nation dedicated to animal welfare. They help injured and abused strays by treating, rehabilitating and re-homing them, as well as helping abandoned pets. We live in a country that is rich by wealth, but in terms of compassion for animals and animal welfare- not so much. We often see racing, hunting, and fighting dogs discarded at the end of seasons. Often once loved pets are dumped when they are too big to carry in a handbag and are no longer a cute little puppy. Due to the stigma attached to owning pets in the country most of our animals travel overseas. It is very difficult to find good homes for street dogs in Qatar and oversees adoption tends to be their only chance at finding a loving homes and leading fulfilled lives. At present Paws Rescue Qatar has around 100 dogs and 150 cats at their shelter, with more in foster, vet clinics and on the streets. Although they can’t house and “save” them all they do provide food and vet care for many dogs living on the streets. They aim to raise awareness of animal welfare by educating the public on animal welfare and working with the government on TNR programs.
