Hi my name is Lucy and I am an adorable 5 month old puppy from Qatar who arrived into Chicago on May 10, 2019 with Arthur. I will be fostered in Wadsworth, IL upon arrival. I am a happy go lucky playful puppy who desperately wants to find my people and have a family of my own. Here is my story.

Woof!  My name is Lucy! I’m a little girl who was rescued from the streets of Qatar in the Middle East.

The first act
of kindness I remember was a lovely lady coming to help me when I was in so
much pain. You see what happened was that a car drove into my tiny body leaving
me badly hurt. I wasn’t able to move and no one looked after me. I was getting
very weak and hungry, and days went by without anyone coming to help me.

When the kind
lady came, I was so happy! She spoke very softly to me and told me she was
there to help. I immediately gave her lots of kisses. She took me to the vets
who gave me a bandage on my leg. Eventually the pain went away, but the bandage
was a little bit annoying as it meant I couldn’t play as much because I had to
rest my leg.

It’s now all better, and I’m so thankful to the lady from Paws Rescue Qatar for coming to help me. I have been living in a house with an amazing family who have helped me. They’ve taught me to walk nicely on a leash, how to play with children, how to be around other dogs and cats too. It’ll be a shame to leave them, but I know if I leave then they can take care of another dog who needs help.

I am a submissive dog who enjoys playing with other dogs and adores all people especially children.  I am super smart and want so badly to please you.  I will learn your home rules very quickly.  Please come and meet me.  I know you will want to take me home and make me a part of your family.  You won’t regret it.  I promise.

Paws Rescue Qatar is one of just a couple non-profit organisations in the nation dedicated to animal welfare. They help injured and abused strays by treating, rehabilitating and re-homing them, as well as helping abandoned pets. We live in a country that is rich by wealth, but in terms of compassion for animals and animal welfare- not so much. We often see racing, hunting, and fighting dogs discarded at the end of seasons. Often once loved pets are dumped when they are too big to carry in a handbag and are no longer a cute little puppy. Due to the stigma attached to owning pets in the country most of our animals travel overseas. It is very difficult to find good homes for street dogs in Qatar and oversees adoption tends to be their only chance at finding a loving homes and leading fulfilled lives. At present Paws Rescue Qatar has around 100 dogs and 150 cats at their shelter, with more in foster, vet clinics and on the streets. Although they can’t house and “save” them all they do provide food and vet care for many dogs living on the streets. They aim to raise awareness of animal welfare by educating the public on animal welfare and working with the government on TNR programs.
