Happy’s Rescue Story

Hi – my name is Happy and I was rescued from Bahrain and arrived into Chicago this month to find my forever home. I am now fostered in Wadsworth, IL and doing great. I am a petite brindle mix weighing just 32 pounds. I love people and other dogs and I would love to meet you. I have waited a long time to find my family. I have great house manners and am kennel trained. I am spayed and current on vaccinations and micro chipped.

Woof! Woof! Woof! I am Happy and I live at the BSPCA shelter in Bahrain. I was born on the streets of Bahrain, and lived with my mum and 3 siblings in an area of waste ground. The Sheikha, who rescued me, brought me with my 3 siblings to the BSPCA, when I was a tiny pup.  I was very scared but at least I had my siblings for company. Happily for them, they have all found loving homes, but I miss them and long for a loving home of my own. I sometimes ask myself why no-one has picked me? Can no-one find it in their hearts to love me?

I am a small medium sized dog. I like going for walks but I am a little nervous; I am obedient  and will walk on the leash and cross the road, even though the big trucks that thunder down the road outside the shelter worry me.

I have been well looked after at the BSPCA, spayed, vaccinated, tick treated and kept in very good health. I enjoy the kibbles with chicken and rice that we are given to eat at the shelter.

I am a very gentle girl. I am quiet too. When the volunteers come to walk doggies at the shelter, I just sit quietly and hope that I get the opportunity to go for a walk.  I hope even more that someone will notice me and want a lovely, gentle quiet girl to make their home complete. I am very proud of my pretty brindle coat. I was hoping that would attract an owner, but sadly as yet, I have not been noticed enough to find a furrever home like my brothers and sister.

There is a lady that comes to walk me every week. My favourite thing is when she sits on the bench, lets me sit by her, leaning into her legs and strokes my ears. It makes me feel safe and loved.

I have never lived in a home but I am still a gentle girl, who loves other dogs and play happily in the enclosure when we are put out to exercise. I would like nothing better than to call a home my own. I know I would be utterly devoted to my owner.
