GREAT NEWS….. Pixie is HOME!!! Pixie has been adopted by Michelle and Oscar Nagler and their lovely daughter Kat of Lafayette, IN.
Pixie and her brother Jason arrived into Chicago last week from Phuket, Thailand. These sweet siblings were rescued from a Rubber Plantation as young pups by Tina Maria of the Bodhi Rescue.
Pixie’s brother Jason is being fostered by Lora Merkel and her daughter Samantha who happen to be good friends of the Naglers and who live nearby. Somethings were just meant to be. So Pixie and Jason are being trained together by Kat and Samantha and get regular play dates with each other. A whole new and wonderful world await these lucky pups.
It’s a big change to go from shelter life living outside with over 100 other dogs to life in a home. It takes awhile for them to adjust and for the stress hormones to die down. Baby steps and patience and the rewards are immense to witness a life transformed – a life saved. A bond so strong and so special.
Michelle and Kat fell in love with Pixie many months ago and have been waiting patiently for their girl to arrive. A blessed reunion Forsure!
Thank you to all who have helped Pixie along the way especially Tina Maria who Pixie and Jason owe their lives and Alea Mclaren for working so hard on the flight logistics. Most importantly thank you to the Nagler’s for making Pixie’s dreams come true.

Pixie was born to in a litter of 7 puppies on a banana plantation in Phuket Thailand in February of this year. Life for these pups at an early age was rough…. and they were not faring well. Malnourished and in constant danger from poisoning and the danger of local street traffic their lives were perilous to say the least. Tina Marie, Founder of the Bodhi Rescue came across them on a spay/neuter run in the area. Her heart went out to them and she took all 7 siblings under her care at her shelter. The puppies are now healthy, happy-go-lucky 7 months old puppies. However, their future is bleak, as they have little chance of local adoption. While Pixie has food and shelter and is safe from many of the dangers of the street – she is still just existing. She lives with over 100 street dog rescues located on temple grounds (Bodhi Rescue). Tina Marie does the best she can to care for all the dogs at the shelter – however, there is just not enough time in a day to properly supervise all the dogs and give them the much needed one on one time. ISDF is raising money to bring them to Chicago so that they will have their chance at happiness in loving homes. Please consider donating here. A second chance to lead a fulfilled life without fear – the chance that so many street dogs around the world will never know. Pixie and her brother Jason are flying to Chicago on December 23rd. It would be ideal if we could find a home to take both Pixie and Jason as they are very bonded to each other.
Pixie loves to play and enjoys spending time with other dogs, especially her brother Jason. She is great with all people, especially children and has a lot of love to give. She just needs a family to share it with and she will be eternally grateful.
ISDF, founder, Dawn Trimmel met Pixie while in Thailand this April and was so moved by her gentle, loving soul and pleading eyes that she has become the poster dog for ISDF and adorns our banners and flyers.
Pixie is current on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped.
