Adoption Post

Hi, I’m Tosh and I may be the most handsome dog you’ll ever meet – I know it too! I’m just under two years old, and I’m from New Delhi, India where I was rescued after being born in a drain. My mom and siblings died, so it was decided I would come to America! That was about a year and a half ago. Since then, I’ve been living with a family with two humans and four pet siblings. My mom loves me more than anything in the world, but I find myself stressed in her home as I don’t love living with other animals. I also sometimes get upset around young, rowdy children and they have a baby niece that comes over a lot. So I’m looking for a new home to join. This makes my mom really sad, but she wants me to have a home where I feel happy and safe all the time.
My mom says I’m both beautiful and complex. I’m fiercely loyal once you take the time and effort to bond with me. I love to give and receive affection more than any other dog my mom knows – that’s her favorite thing about me! I will know when you’re sad or upset, and if I needed to, I would protect you with my life. I love to play and explore. I’m extremely curious. Left on my own, my curiosity can lead me to chewing your socks and underwear, but give me a butcher bone and a window with a view – I’m all set! I would really love a fenced in yard to roam and run. I don’t want to live with little kids or other cats and dogs as I like my own space at the end of each day. Dog parks can be tricky for me right now, but I love exploring forest preserves, beaches, and state parks. I walk perfectly on a flat collar – no pulling! I can also keep up on your morning jog! I’m perfectly crate trained. The parents I have now work full time. I don’t really mind as long as I get lots of exercise in the morning and evening. I’m also perfectly house trained!
I know a few tricks, including sit, stay, wait, and free. I know never to jump on any furniture, except the bed. I recently graduated from Reactivity 101, but still struggle a lot around other dogs and cats, so it might be good for me to get continued training for when I meet furry friends or when new human visitors come over. Leaving my home will be hard, and I might be a bit sad at first, but if you give me some time to adjust to you, I will be your very best friend. Mom says, I am, in every sense of the word, her truest companion.
So how about that bone?
