GREAT NEWS…. Asha is HOME. Asha is a rescue from Istanbul Turkey and this week she joined Aaron and Nicolle Sponsler of Toledo, Ohio.
Aaron and Nicole were looking for the right companion for them and their dog Dannie. They made the long 4 hour journey to meet a couple ISDF rescues. Asha stole their hearts with her sweet ways and Dannie and Asha did well on the first meeting.
Asha has been on a long journey to find her place and her humans. Her journey was worth it as she found an amazing family to share her love with.
Thank you for all who helped Asha along the way. Most importantly thank you to Aaron and Nicolle for making Asha’s dreams come true.
You too can save a life…. www.istreetdog.com
I know what you’re thinking. “She is a former… street dog? No way. She is stunning! And, she is radiating love! She looks like a ‘purebreed’ of some kind. Nah, she couldn’t have been a street dog!”
Well, it’s true. I was abandoned on a road in Turkey. When it comes to the world’s street dogs, there is no discrimination of breeds. “Purebreeds” like Labradors, Dobermans, St. Bernards, German Shepherds, Boxers – and even small breeds like Pugs and Beagles – are thrown out of their homes with total disregard. There are many reasons behind this callous practice. It certainly makes zero sense to me!
My incredible rescuer wasn’t thinking about my breed when she saved me. Who knows what my genes prove, but really, does it matter? My rescuer saw me for what I was: a scared, malnourished dog with a head injury. I was living in an industrial area, and I had been hit on the head with some kind of weapon. My rescuer thankfully took me into her custody. I was so very happy and relieved to be safe and comforted by her wonderful family! I am such a sweet, easy girl that I quickly transitioned under her care. My head healed, and I have no effects from the injury.
Meanwhile, my rescuer returned to the place where she found me. She wanted to be certain that I did not have an owner. The locals told her that indeed I was homeless. I had been at the site begging for food and attention, and people were trying to kill me because I was a “nuisance.” That’s why I had the injury. Sometimes, life is just cruel and unfair.
And sometimes, life brings luck and blessings! My rescuer was my first sign of hope, and now, I am traveling to ISDF to find my Forever Family! I am about one year-old, and I am spayed and healthy. I am extremely loving and very eager to please everyone. I am great with dogs and love people. My exercise level is average, and I am a quiet dog. I am calm in the house, potty-trained, and crate-trained!
My survival honors all the street dogs who will never have my good fortune. I hope to meet you soon for lots of hugs and kisses! Asha arrived into Chicago from Turkey on July 19, 2017.
