Gamja was thrilled to meet the family and the kids were super excited to finally meet Gamja. They contained their excitement however and let Gamja get to know them slowly. It was a very joy filled meeting. Gamja is now part of a large loving family and will have many fun filled days ahead!!
Thank you to Seonae Du for rescuing this sweet girl and most importantly thank you to the Ophime’s for welcoming this Gamja into their home!!
You too can save a life.
Pre-Adoption Rescue Story
Hello! My name is Gamja, which means potato in Korean! I’m 3 years old, and a super-affectionate spayed female!
For all 3 years of my life, I had been tied to a short chain, fed the food waste, and destined to be sold to a dog meat trader for 150,000 won (about 135$). Although I loved my previous owner, who was a grandpa, maybe he didn’t feel the same about me…Grandpa had already received the 150,000 won and the day was set for me to travel to the dog meat farm.
It was at night, two days before the day! The granddaughter living in Seoul and an unknown man approached me and released the short chain I was tied to for my entire life! I can never forget that day. I stepped on grass for the first time, rode a car for the first time, and even walked up the stairs. It was the first time I went to a veterinary clinic, too. While I was experiencing these new things, the granddaughter was crying and telling me she was sorry, and the man told me everything is going to be alright from now on and hugged me. I later found out that she had found out about the day and posted it on social media, asking for help to rescue me. No one was answering but that man volunteered to help. I was told he is a volunteer who rescues fellow dogs like me.
After that incident, I stayed at the vet for a while eating healthy food and receiving heart worm treatment. Meanwhile, several volunteers came to visit me and I was so happy each time they came because I do love people so much! Do you know what the vet, nurses, and volunteers all called me? They called me sunny weather because my state was always bright and sunny! They don’t know why I’m always in a good mood. I always wanted to love and be loved, but I was always tied to a short chain, cold and lonely. So, of course I’m happy to meet people now! I like making friendships with people and playing with my doggie friends. Especially, I’m happiest when people touch me.
My favorite things are eating and playing ball! First, I love eating everything without a fuss! I feel great when I’m playing with balls. Wherever you throw it, I can catch it – I am very talented at this. I am so smart and I am excited to learn new things from my new family and make them happy.
I’m ready to give all my love to my new family.
Would you be willing to be my family who will share my ‘sunny weather?
