Harry’s rescue story:
On the night of Friday 14 October 2016, Isobel received a call from Mrs Wadhwa asking for help with a dog sitting in the middle of the busy Shankar Road roundabout in New Delhi, India. When Isobel reached the place in question, there was a group of people at the side of the road with a dog that looked as though it had a skin condition. It was late by now and Isobel took the dog to an emergency medical center where the dog was boarded overnight. The following afternoon, Isobel picked up the dog and transferred it to Dr Choudhary’s Pet Clinic for treatment and Happy Paws Medical Boarding Center for boarding. The dog was named Harry! After being shaved, it was very obvious that Harry was suffering from a severe, yet totally treatable, skin condition. Harry is a pedigree golden retriever and it is thought that due to his skin condition he was dumped by his ‘family’ on the road as they most likely didn’t want to deal with his medical condition. Slowly but surely, under the watchful eye of Dr Choudhary and Arti, he has recovered from the skin condition, his fur now growing out and beginning to resemble a golden retriever. He has been neutered and is fully vaccinated and is micro-chipped.
About Harry
There is no sweeter boy than Harry; friendly and lovable, there is no doubt that he has been someone’s pet as a puppy. Although severely depressed when rescued, (possibly realizing he had been dumped and due to his bad skin condition), he has bravely fought back and his indomitable spirit returned week by week as he slowly got better. His fur now grown back, he is a happy and playful young dog at Happy Paws, greeting everyone and playing with the other dogs.
Harry needs a loving home and family who will look after him and he will repay them with his loving and playful nature. He is a good boy and very much deserves a good home. Unfortunately, in his home country India his adoption chances are slim to none.
Harry will be arriving into Chicago on May 30 and will be fostered in Wadsworth, IL until adopted.
You can find our adoption application here. You must be approved for adoption prior to scheduling a meet and greet.
