Hero is described by our rescue partners in New Delhi as one of the most incredibly sweet and affectionate dogs they have ever worked with! This 1-year-old 40 lb neutered male street dog was first spotted in mid-October by ISDF friend Isobel as he wandered down her street looking thin as a rail, with bald patches from malnutrition. Despite his sorry condition, he was cheerful and sweet, tail wagging.

Touched by his loving nature, Isobel searched for Hero over the next four days. On the fourth night, she saw him – just as decided to play Frogger with busy traffic in the main road near her house! Fortunately he crossed the street unharmed, and she was able to call out to him and coax him into her car safely.

Hero’s life made a complete 180 degree turn that night – and ever since, he has been in loving, safe hands: first, with Arti, at Happy Paws – and then, with Sonia and Dieter on their farm, where they foster many lucky street dog survivors. Hero’s foster mom and dad describe him as extremely clever, laid-back, gentle, and above all – very affectionate! He will fly here to the USA this week, in search of a forever family to call his own. Hero’s full story will be published in the next few days and we will update this post with a link as soon as possible.
