Obi formerly named Joy needs a new home. Obi was adopted in May 2016 by a very loving family. Obi’s family tells us that they don’t think their home is the best fit for Obi as they feel he would do better with a calm and consistent environment and maybe a yard to play in. He enjoys things most young dogs do running, chasing, playing and of course loving his family. He has good basic obedience and house manners and has been very sweet to the kids of the household. However, he needs a little time to warm up to strangers and needs to build his confidence. He would do best in a family with an experienced owner who has the patience to allow him to continue to flourish and grow.
Here is his original rescue story. Obi is a rescue from New Delhi, India. Here is his rescue story written by ISDF rescue partner Mini Seth.
A young mother dog appeared in front of my house and chose a nearby drain to safely have her litter. She would come for her meals and then disappear into the drain to feed her kids. We don’t know how many pups were there, since she kept them deep in the drain. Luckily it was a dry drain and the weather supported them, no rains. Finally after about 10 weeks, we could hear noises at the exit point and 2 lil cute and healthy pups were spotted. Can’t imagine that they had not seen sunlight for the first 10 weeks of their life. It was evident that their Mom was feeding them well. As it was a deep drain, we started dropping some food for the pups, as the mother seemed troubled having to feed them all the time. Few days later both pups managed to emerge, and looked around in bewilderment. Hope(black pup) followed his mother and was lost for one entire day and night. Joy left alone kept whining in search of his mother and brother, and almost got run over by the fast and speeding traffic. We immediately picked him up and brought him home. Luckily Hope appeared next morning and could also be rescued. The only reason we rescue pups is because we know we have ISDF to help them with their forever homes and life of safety and security and love as there is little to no hope of local adoption since street dogs are generally not seen as suitable pets Joy is now about 3 months, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Joy arrived with his brother Hope on May 24, 2016. They are healthy puppies, with wonderful temperaments, and love to be around their humans. Joy loves to spend time outside and has a lovely calm demeanor for such a young puppy. He is cage trained and is simply a “joy” to be around. He is doing great with learning the ropes of life in a home and are almost house trained. Hope was adopted the day he arrived and Joy is still looking for his forever home.
