GREAT NEWS….. JASMINE (aka Julia) is HOME AT LAST!!
Abby and Eric Jones received her yesterday in Phoenix after a long journey from India. This reunion has been in the works for months and Abby and Eric have waited with great anticipation for this day to arrive!
It’s only fitting that Abby and Eric have their own Desi dog as their daughter studied in New Delhi and became plugged into the plight of the Indian street dogs. Also Abby is ISDF’s newest Board member, joining earl…ier this year. Abby has been involved in rescue for many years and also serves currently on Best Friends BOD.
Jasmine caught Abby’s eye right away when ISDF first committed to helping her. Jasmine has wow’ed her rescuers and foster family from the moment they met her in India, Ria Gupta and Meredith Allen. Meredith and Ria worked so hard to save her and ensure she had a better future.
Jasmine was not meant to live a life of hardship on the streets – her fate had other things in store for her. This week her destiny was fulfilled!!! Welcome home Jasmine! Congratulations on your new baby Abby and and Eric!
Pre-Adoption Post
Meet Julia – named after Julia Roberts for her stunning good looks and her long legs. Julia is a 5 year year old girl who was rescued from the streets of New Delhi, India. She gave birth to a litter of 9 puppies on the streets outside of a farmhouse. The owner of the farmhouse told the guard to poison her and her pups. Luckily Ria found out and drove out to rescue Julia and her pups. Unfortunately by the time she got there only 3 of the puppies could be found. Most likely they wandered off and were hit by cars. Julia was in bad shape being extremely malnourished and having a bad eye infection. Ria made sure she received medical attention and today she is healthy as can be. She is ready for a new life…. a loving home of her own.
Julia was spared a life of hardship on the streets by Ria Gupta and fostered in India by Meredith Allen. Unfortunately “desi” dogs are not viewed as pets for the average Indian – especially adult street dogs so the chance of local adoption would have been slim to none. Julia’s lovely and calm temperament compelled us to bring her to the US in search of her forever home. The chance of a lifetime…. unfortunately the chance millions of street dogs in India will never have. We are hoping to bring her only surviving child Captain, to Chicago soon to find her happy ever after too.
Julia is a very happy dog with a loving and calm temperament. She is great with kids and other dogs. For only having lived inside a home for a short time she needed very little training and fit right in – so well mannered and obedient. She loves walks and to hang out with her people and receive and give affection. She is house trained and crate trained. Julia’s favorite thing to do is to hang out with her family. She has very calm and lovely temperament and doesn’t need a lot of exercise. She would be perfect for a family that wants a loving companion that is very low maintenance.
Julia is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microhipped. She will make a lucky family very happy. Saving one life will not change the world but the world will forever be changed for that one lucky survivor.
