GREAT NEWS….. It’s OFFICIAL…… Juliet is HOME!! Juliet joined Kyle and Deidre Bullifin of Batavia, IL. Juliet has been through a lot of suffering in her short life. She was rescued from a marketplace in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia …. Her little body was severely burned from someone pouring acid on her. After months and months of recovery with “Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better” rescue organization she is all better and a wonderful new chapter of her life has begun! Kyle spotted Juliet’s Egyptian jackal like profile in the distance at an adoption event “it’s all About the Paws” last week. He was intrigued and came over to find out more. At first Juliet was shy but Kyle was patient and would come over to spend time with her throughout the day for 3 days until Juliet warmed up to him. Juliet warmed up right away to his wife Deidre and well the rest is history. Juliet could not be in a more loving home and I am so happy for this sweet girl. Thank you #MDDB for saving Juliet and most importantly thank you to Kyle and Deidre for opening your hearts and home to Juliet.

JULIET’S STORY:
Juliet was born a street dog in Malaysia where she lived a perilous life, surviving from day to day, in Ipoh City, Perak, north of Kuala Lumpur. When she was just a few months old, she wandered into the wet market, a massive fresh food marketplace catering to mostly foreigners, with both indoor and covered quarters. There, a dog-hating vendor threw a caustic acid substance at her, causing horrific chemical burns on a significant section of her hindquarters, tail, and underbelly.
Many dogs in Juliet’s condition would simply be left to suffer in extreme agony until death, as there are far too many street dogs at large in Malaysia – countless of them, injured or disabled – and far too few capable people able to handle these complicated medical cases. Lucky for Juliet, she was taken under the loving wing of Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB), an extraordinary animal welfare group based out of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
Juliet underwent many painful months of burn treatment. Her tender and tortured skin had to be scrubbed daily to remove dead cells and encourage regrowth of new skin. Despite the agony this caused, she endured everything like a champion.
Today, she is a healthy and happy puppy, described as gorgeous, confident, mischievous, and playful as a lark by MDDB’s founder. How incredible to imagine, given all she has been put through at the hands of man!
MDDB firmly wants the very best for this sweetheart of a survivor – and it is difficult to find dedicated adopters in her home nation, especially for street dogs, often considered common, and even more so when they are thought to be “damaged goods”. Her best bet at finding a forever home, one where she will never be put in danger of having anything like this happen to her again, is overseas adoption.
Juliet is a 9 month old spayed female, weighing approximately 30 lbs. The International Street Dog Foundation looks forward to welcoming Juliet to Chicago with open arms in late April/early May. We know the perfect family is out there just waiting for her to join them and make them complete!
