Hi! My name is Kimchi now named Willow by previous adopters.  I am approximately 1.5 years and I arrived around 13 months ago with 4 of my siblings.  I was adopted when I was approximately 4 months old and now need to find a new home as the Corgi that I live with don’t get along anymore.  I do enjoy the company of other dogs however if they are small and submissive probably not a good match.  I would do  best with larger male alpha dogs.

My mom is heartbroken to have to find a new home for me and this is what she has to say about me.  Willow is a very sweet dog who loves to be outside. She loves belly rubs and her neck butt and thighs scratched. She knows sit and eat and come but she doesn’t like to listen well when called in. Lunch meat bribes work. She is a little skittish so don’t move to fast or she’ll jump. She has two male dog friends the neighbor dog and another bulldog that comes by the fence.  If you give her a stuffed anything it will be demolished in short order and be all over the house. All in all I think if Willow was the only dog it would be best and I think she can still be trained to do other things as she is very smart.  We love Willow and want her to get a good home. She was just at the vet and they said she is a perfect weight and health she is also up do date on shots and was spayed as a puppy.

Willow is still very much a young playful dog and will need a family that can exercise her appropriately.  Ideally she would have a fenced in yard to spend time in and play.

My rescue was fated as my brothers and sisters were dropped on the doorstep of my lovely foster mom Jyoti in New Delhi, India. I am named after a delicious Japanese food that is eaten quite often with most meals.   She has done a great job teaching me the first steps of simple commands and being crate trained.  I’ve also learned to love playing with other dogs, humans of all ages, and riding in cars.  Jyoti describes me as being the loving, playful and innocent one of the bunch.

It’s hard to find homes in India for even the cutest of pups like me so I’m coming to the United States. So maybe this Valentine’s Day, instead of going out for Kimchi you’ll bring me home instead!!

I am approximately 15 pounds and will be a medium sized dog when full grown between 30 and 45 pounds.  I am current on vaccinations and micro-chipped but I am too young to be spayed.  I am arriving into Chicago on February 9th to find my forever home.  I look forward to meeting you and charming you with my cute puppy ways.  I have so much love to give.

Desi (day-see) —or Indian— Dogs live on the city and village streets of India.  There are an estimated 260,000 street dogs just in the capital, New Delhi.  Also called Indian Native Dogs or Pariah Dogs, these incredible animals are intelligent, good-looking, athletic, and full of character!  In India, the dogs face extreme temperatures (damp, chilly winters and 115-degree summers), cars and other fast vehicles, disease, monsoons, and violence from people, as well as other street dogs.  Some “community dogs” are sterilized, vaccinated, and fed by volunteers, while most street dogs experience indifferent cultural attitudes and survive on their own efforts and luck.  Litters of pups are often drowned, buried alive, stoned, or removed from their mothers.  Most citizens do not know about dog sterilization and vaccination, and if they do, many cite religious beliefs against spaying/neutering.  In the cities, there is major cultural interest in the “superiority” of “purebreeds.”  Unfortunately, the labs, pugs, Dobermans, St. Bernards, boxers, and German Shepherds are frequently abandoned as many families do not have the funds, space, and knowledge about responsible long-term dog ownership.
