Hi my name is Lola, and I am a beautiful lady just 10 months old. I have GSD coloring and beautiful coat. I am a petite girl at just 35 pounds full grown. I was so cute as a puppy and I attended several adoption drives but no one came forward to adopt me. Fortunately I was able to travel to ISDF in Chicago to find my forever home. I am healthy, micro chipped and up to date on vaccinations.
My story: I was spotted with 3 of my siblings in a garbage dump one day out of the blue. We wondered there and became LOST. It was very scary and there was a lot of traffic that we had to dodge. I don’t know what happened to our mother as she never came back with our meals that day which is why we wondered off. We were only about 1 month old and were patiently sitting at one spot. We were lucky because our rescuers saw us and became very worried about our well being. They watched us for a long while hoping our mother would come back. She never did. The rescuers had no place to take us so they left us and came back the next day. We were still sitting in the same place when they returned except now we looked ill and very frightened. They fed us some warm chicken soup and made a small hut for us. They visited us again that evening and we were shivering cold.
A nearby resident told our rescuers that these pups had been left there by a person who came in a bike. The pups were in a gunny bag which he emptied out in the dump and then sped away. It was so fast that the resident did not have a chance to note any number of the bike. However, the resident also did not want the pups there and called them a “nuisance”.
That was the day when they decided to pick them and take them to a paid foster. Two of my siblings are still at the foster home in India. I am the lucky one who was chosen to come to Chicago to find my forever home. I miss my siblings but I am also very excited about my future and having a family to love.
I have always been the most outgoing of my siblings. I am a bit goofy and love to run around in parks. I enjoy being with other dogs and have anther dog that I am fostered with who is my new BFF.
I am very smart and learn things quickly. I am a pretty low maintenance dog with moderate energy for such a young dog. I enjoy spending time outside and my foster parents recently found out that I love to swim. I am very gentle and a bit shy but have so much love to give. Please give me a chance and I’ll show you what a good girl I will be and how happy I will make your family.

Desi (day-see) dogs live on the city and village streets of India, with an estimated 400,000 in the capital Delhi, alone. Also called Indies, Indian Native Dogs, or pariah dogs, these dogs have changed little over thousands of years. Desi dogs are highly intelligent, alert, good-looking, athletic, and full of character. Many urban desi dogs have recent European breed ancestry too, along with sighthound sleekness and speed.
While most street dogs experience indifference at best, some neighbors and business owners look after their community dogs. Delhi’s extreme weather (cold winters, sweltering summers, thick smog, and monsoons), dangerous traffic, disease, human violence, and attacks from other dogs, ensure that most desi puppies die before reaching adulthood. It’s a great irony that increasing numbers of status-conscious Indians are buying expensive and ill-suited foreign breed dogs, while more resilient and regal-looking native Indian dogs often have to travel internationally to find willing adoptive homes. Most of the desi dogs that ISDF places could not survive on Indian streets due to early orphaning or injury, or have been rescued from especially threatening situations.
