Hi my name is Lucas and I will be arriving from Tunisia on 1/17/2020 from Tunisia to find my forever home. I am approximately 3 years old and have been living on the streets since born until recently. I was rescued by my street feeder after the police had been called to shoot the dogs in the area. That’s right I narrowly escaped a painful death on the streets as police have open license to kill us if we are reported as nuisances. A nuisance constitutes just “being” in most cases and often casualties of the police raids die slow and painful deaths as the bullet wounds don’t always result in immediate death.

My street feeder had become very attached to me by my sweet and loving nature. It was a scary time for me when I lived on the streets and I would be chased by children and have humans through stones at me – that is when I would hide under the cars for safety. When she received word that the police had been called and were on their way to shoot and kill all dogs in the areas she jumped into action and although she wanted to save them all – she was only able to take me. I was brought to safety, neutered, and given his rabies, parvo, distemper and lepto vaccinations and placed in a paid foster home. I have been given a clean bill of health and am awaiting my long journey to Chicago IL where I hope to find a family of my own.

I am thriving in my new home and eating up all the attention. Despite the hardship I faced on the street I have become very fond and trusting of humans. I am told that I exude joy and my gentle, loving, and human orientated nature will make me an excellent candidate for international re-homing. Unfortunately, my odds are slim to none of finding a family in my home country. I can’t wait to find my people and feel very fortunate to have been given this opportunity.

I will be fostered in Wadsworth, IL until adopted. Please give me a chance to show you what a wonderful dog I am and how much joy I will bring to your family. I look like a border collie mix but am probably a mix of many breeds. I am approximately 3 years old and 45 pounds.

I enjoy the company of people and other dogs and am just learning the pleasures of toys. I have so much to learn and I know I will flourish in your home with love and patience.

If you are interested in adopting me please contact Dawn at 414-426-4148 or info@istreetdog.com. you can find ISDF’s adoption application here.

Tunisia is a country in North Africa, stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sahara. Tunisia has more freedoms than its neighbors, but it’s not a lucky country for dogs. Few Tunisians keep dogs as pets, some are worked on farms or chained to roofs as guard dogs, but most are ownerless scavengers, roaming the streets, searching for food and risking death daily from disease, violence, and purposeful, inhumane killing by the police and city workers.
