GREAT NEWS …. Lucy is HOME! Lucy was rescued from the streets of New Delhi, India.
Lucy joined Kristen Edgar of Woodbridge, IL today. Kristen met Lucy when she was volunteering to train and socialize ISDF fosters. Kristen could not stop thinking about Lucy until she finally decided that Lucy belonged with her and she decided to welcome Lucy into her home and heart.
Lucy was so excited to see Kristen…. her tail did not stop wagging. She knew…😉
Lucy and Kristen will have many fun adventures together and a lifetime of love to share.
Thank you Kristen for making Lucy’s dreams come true today. She will be eternally grateful as are we.

Pre-Adoption Post
Lucy is approximately 3 years old, 38 lb, spayed female whippet mix who was born to a New Delhi street dog affectionately referred to as ‘Princess’ by the kind-hearted feeders who cared for her. Tragically, just one week after Princess gave birth to a litter, she passed away. One by one, her puppies faded without Mama’s body warmth and proper nutrition. Only three babies ultimately survived – sweet Lucy, and her lovely sisters, Heidi and Bella (both of whom were ISDF adoptions in the USA).
Lucy was adopted to a local home in India, but after a few weeks, they decided they wanted a male dog instead. Unbeknownst to her rescuers, Lucy was dumped back onto the street to fend for herself, despite still being a tender young puppy. Thankfully, Lucy’s rescuers soon discovered what had happened and they were able to retrieve her soon afterwards, since she pathetically remained very near the place where she had been dumped, despite time passing..
Lucky for Lucy, in the end, that they washed their hands of her…as it opened the door for bigger and better things! This strikingly gorgeous chocolate girl with the temperament of a teddy bear then went into short-term foster care with ISDF friend Meredith, who had only a limited amount of time with Lucy, but who reported to us that, “I had Lucy for less than a week, but I totally fell in love with her!” Lucy then moved to Sonia and Dieter’s farm, where she has been for several months. She is sociable with the other dogs and absolutely lives for human affection and attention. She is a lively, happy girl who is wants nothing more than friends to play ball with – incredible to imagine, considering all she has been through in her short life at the hands of humans.
ISDF was able to find wonderful homes for Bella,Heidi, and Lucy upon arriving to the US in 2015. Lucy arrived into the USA in February 2015 and was adopted right away and has been in the home for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, her mom has developed some medical issues and is no longer able to care for her. She is looking for the perfect people she can spend the rest of her life with where she will finally be loved and safe – FOREVER – at last! She is social and good with dogs and all people. She is house trained and has good house manners.
