GREAT NEWS … Little Lucy went home today with Helen and Don Zubor of Bristol, WI and their daughter Samantha. Lucy now has K-9 sister named Turbo. Lucy is a rescue from the streets of New Delhi, India.

Zurbor’s other dog passed away not long ago and it was hard on the whole family but especially on Turbo who desperately misses him. Helen and family wanted to get another dog to help fill the void in their hearts and to give Turbo a companion and playmate.

I know that Turbo will have lots of fun playing with Lucy and that Turbo will be good role model.

Thank you Meredith K. Allen for rescuing Lucy and giving her a second chance at life.

Most of all thank you to the Zubor family for opening your hearts and home to Lucy.

LUCY’S RESCUE STORY… As written by Lucy’s rescuer

Lucy was rescued by Lata, a wonderful woman in New Delhi who has worked for years to support the Indian street dogs in her neighborhood. She and her brother have sterilized over 70 street dogs and rescued about 30. Lata also rescued Bella (Ducky), Zella (Jhumki), and Imli (ISDF alums).

Lata writes: I was on my way to the doctor when I heard very loud crying and screaming. I turned on my left and saw a small crowd. I went near to have a look and saw that two people were lifting a big car and one man pulling a puppy who got stuck under the vehicle. She was bleeding because her face (left side) and ear were badly burned. She came in contact with a very hot muffler; just like magnet sticks to metal, her face got stuck to the hot muffler of the car. The pup was scared and crying in pain. I asked the people for more details. They told me just the night before this pup came in the area. It seems she got separated from her mother and lost her way. I very well knew that no one was going to take her to the vet, so I asked them to take care of her until my brother was able to take her home. My brother and I took the pup, now named Lucy, to the vet. The doctor cleaned her deep wound, applied some cream on the burns, and gave her an antibiotic injection. Her left eye was swollen and almost closed. When we returned home she was in tremendous pain and did not slept whole night. To our surprise, she was wagging tail when we went near her, despite her pain. We took Lucy to the vet on alternating days. It took almost three weeks for her wound to heal. Slowly a new layer of skin started appearing, and her hair was growing. Twice a day we applied Burnol cream and coconut oil. Lucy is a very lucky pup to have had such amazing help in her young life. She is full of energy and love! And, now she will have a wonderful Forever Family in thanks to the support and care of ISDF. Thank you!

Lucy is 6 months old and approximately 25 pounds.  She will likely be 40-50 pounds when full grown.  She is current on vaccinations, spayed and micro-chipped.

Lucy flew from New Delhi, India to Chicago to find her forever home and be given a very precious second chance at life – thanks to her savior Meredith Allen who has saved so many street dogs from India.  If you are interested in adopting Lucy please contact ISDF at info@istreetdog.com.  You can find ISDF’s adoption application here.
