GREAT NEWS…. The three pups arrived on April 6, 2016 and all three went home within 2 days!!!

Haley Rose .. Aka Maya is HOME.

Haley Rose joined Kara and Billy Cassady of McHenry, IL this Tuesday. Even dad came along to meet her. She charmed and enchanted them instantly with her demure yet playful ways and a few bats of her eyelashes. That was one of the quickest “Where do we sign?” Adoptions. Haley Rose looks remarkably like their Whippet mix Gracie. Another “Mini Me”!!

Update after Day 1 from mom Kara. “She’s doing really good. Very at home already. Going potty outside and playing with the other dogs. We named her Haley Rose…calling her Rosie. Haley was my dog that just passed away. I can’t thank you again for blessing us with her. She’s one of the smartest dogs I have ever had. ?“.

Sigh …. It’s been a good week.

Thank you to Mini Kapoor Seth for rescuing Haley Rose and thank you to Sonia Heller for fostering this sweet angel in New Delhi and thanks to Jackie Ratcliffe for seeing them safely to Chicago on her flight!

Most importantly thanks to Kara and Billy for opening their hearts and home to Miss Rosie!

ANOTHER FAIRY TAIL ENDING….. Sweet Claire .. Aka Tara joined her new family, Amanda, Patrick, Kaylee and her half- sister Laitee

Yes that’s right her actual half sister from India who looks just like her – a “mini me” if you will. Born to the same mother her half sister Laitee arrived 9 months earlier and was adopted by Patrick and Amanda. When they saw little Tara they knew they had to bring her home.

Claire and Laitee are like little matching book ends and they are so happy to be together as if they know they are connected by fate and bloodline.

Thank you to Mini Kapoor Seth for rescuing Claire and her siblings and working so hard to ensure them a better life. Thank you to Sonia for giving such loving care in New Delhi while she awaited her flight. Thank you to Jackie Ratcliffe for escorting them to the US with her.

Most of all thanks to Amanda and Patrick for making this blessed Union possible and providing such a loving home.

Rocky aka Raj is home. Raj arrived on Tuesday from New Delhi and went home the same night to his new family Greg and Elzbieta Koza.

Rocky was one of three young siblings who were born on the streets of New Delhi, India. Thanks to Mini Kapoor Seth and Sonia Heller their rescue Angels they were spared the hardships of “life on the streets” and most likely an early death.

Instead today Rocky is living the good life and is treasured and loved by his new family. They saw his picture a few weeks ago and committed to adopting sight unseen. They just knew he was the dog destined to be with them.

When they finally were united it was a very joyous occasion.

Thank you to Mini for rescuing, Sonia for fostering in New Delhi and Jackie Ratcliffe for flying back to the states with Rocky and his siblings. As always it is only through the efforts of many that make this possible.

Most importantly, thank you to Greg and Elzbieta for welcoming Rocky into you home with such enthusiasm and love. What a lucky boy!!

Pre-Adoption Post

Maya (female), Tara (female), and Raj (male) are three little survivors of a litter that originally numbered five.
They are also half- or full- siblings of Sabya, Fiza, and Ravi (now all adopted and named Laitee, Helo and Pippa) who travelled to Chicago last June and found forever homes through ISDF – you may remember these puppies from last summer!

The mother of all six of these puppies is an incredibly intelligent desi dog and has managed to evade all attempts to catch her until very recently, when she was finally trapped and spayed.

Maya, Tara, and Raj were born in early December 2015. ISDF’s dear rescue friend, Mini Seth Kapoor, saw the puppies with mom when they were quite young. She dreamed of rescuing all five, but knew the situation in Delhi made this mere fantasy – so many dogs in need, so few homes for them all. Mini also lacked the funds for overseas travel and adoption at the time, due to her dedicated work helping so many of the Delhi street dogs.

Given the stark reality of her limited situation, she had to instead settle for second best – providing good nutrition to their mother, which would enable her to keep her pups healthy.

Normally, this would have been the end of the story: the puppies would have grown under their mothers care, few would have survived, and those who did would set off for desi lives on their own in a few months. However, when the pups were just 5 weeks old, Mom was hit by a car and unfortunately sustained a broken front leg.

Mom was barely able to fend for herself after the accident, let alone her pups. Without her constant attention, care, and safekeeping, two puppies quickly perished in the street, run over by speeding cars.Mini knew she could not bear it if the remaining three followed their siblings to tragic ends of their own.

Mom is feral, so Mini was unable to pursue veterinary care for her leg. However, she thankfully trusts Mini enough to accept food from her, so Mini began administering pain medication, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatories in pill form using food to mask the medicine. Mom slowly healed – the bone appears to have calcified and joined satisfactorily, enough for her to put limited weight on it. Though still limping, she will survive this brush with death.

But given the perilous situation of her pups, Mini could not help but take the three surviving babies from the roadside and into her care. They moved to the idyllic farm house of our wonderful ISDF foster family friends, the Hellers.

There, the pups have been vaccinated, dewormed, and socialized in preparation for travel to the USA where ISDF will find homes for these sweet little survivors.
Thanks to Mini’s heroics and the dedicated fostering and TLC of Sonia Heller and family, all three pups are very attached to people.Tara is the baby of the three, smallest in size, very affectionate, and always excited to meet new people and dogs. Maya is the confident, sweet, sassy big sister who watches over her siblings, but likes to get her way too. She is also the most vocal of the three, and is not shy about speaking up when the need arises. Raj is the largest of the three siblings, happy to play with others but also content if left by himself to play with the nearest stick or a ball.Sonia’s farm is a haven for the dogs and these three darlings have been very lucky to enjoy their days there, playing with other rescues who await homes and families to call their own. But now it is Tara’s, Maya’s, and Raj’s time to shine! They will arrive into Chicago on April 6th, with Jackie Ratcliffe as their flight volunteer – and we are so very excited to meet them)! If you are interested in adopting Tara, Maya, or Raj, please contact Dawn Trimmel by email at trimmel@usa.net or by phone at 414-426-4148.
