Meila

GREAT NEWS…..Penny (lucky) aka Meila is HOME!! Meila was rescued from the DMT of Thailand and lived at Elfes World in Koh Samui for the last 3 years.

This weekend she joined the loving family of Diane Stephens Schabo of Iron Mountain Michigan.

Diane drove to Rhinelander Wi to meet Meila but she already knew that Meila was her dog and was destined to join her family. She already had Meila as her Profile Picture on FaceBook. Her dog bed was already ordered.

There was a massive storm that dropped over a foot of snow the night before but that didn’t stop Diane. She drove the 2 hours to get her girl.

It is stories like this that keep us rescuers going. The fated union of dog and person…. despite the odds and the long sometimes painful journey to reach their destiny. I have come to believe in miracles. Thank you to Elfe and Diane for making Meila’s miracle come true.

Pre-Adoption Rescue Story

Meila is an adorable, super-affectionate 5 year old spayed female who resembles a miniature German Shepherd, as she weighs in at just 35 pounds.

It’s hard to believe it when you meet her and discover how sweet and happy she is today, but Meila was rescued from the brutal and illegal southeast Asian dog meat trade…luckily, she is now safe, but desperately craving a forever family to call her very own!

US Foster comments: Meila is a sweet and loving dog. She is 5 1/2 years old and spent most of her life in Thailand. She has good house manners and has already learned a few tricks since being in the U.S. (sit, high five, handshake). She is fully potty trained and will let you know if she needs to go outside for a bathroom break in between walks. She prefers being near her owners (i.e., on the couch together) and will often choose to come up and snuggle right next to you after she feels comfortable. She is incredibly smart and highly trainable.

She has a lot of love to give and has waited a long time to have a family of her own. Could you be the family that she has been searching for?
