Mindy arrived on November 4, 2018 from New Delhi, India into Chicago.  She is fostered in Wadsworth, IL.

Hi my is name is Mindy – I am a super sweet, gentle and shy young girl.  I was born around January 7th, so I am 11 months old and full grown at 35 pounds.

Although being such a young girl I have had a pretty rough road so far and I have journeyed a long way to find my happiness… my family.

I have a lot of love to give and desperately want to find my human.  I will need a family that is patient and loving and I will show you that I am the most loyal and loving companion you could wish for.   I am a little fearful of new experiences, people, and dogs yet but I am not aggressive at all – in fact I am super gentle and will get on with anyone – dogs or people alike.  I will just need space in the beginning while I learn that I can trust you and that you don’t intend me any harm.  I am one of the lowest maintenance dogs you could have.  I would do great in an apartment or really any living situation – as most dogs I am highly adaptable and ask for very little.  I am fully potty trained and have no destructive habits.  I can be left alone outside of a kennel and won’t damage a thing.  One of my favorite pastimes is just lying on the couch with a pile of toys.  I am calm, loving and just THANKFUL to be alive basically.  A house that is calm and the people loving and patient would be ideal.

Here is my story.  I am one of 13 puppies that had the good fortune of being born near a very fierce and loving animal rescuer named Patricia Sueur.  Patricia is an expat who lives in New Delhi and is one of the most wonderful people I know.  I owe my life to her and this opportunity to find a home in the US… she is in short…. my savior!  Premlata Choudhary is also my hero, she gave me loving vet care and arranged for my transport to the US.  She is also nothing short of a SUPER HERO.

OK back to my story……

Patricia fed us every day along with my mom.  But one day, Patricia noticed that I didn’t feel good and some of my siblings also took ill.   We were so sick we couldn’t eat and barely had the energy to move.  Patricia acted quickly and took us to Premlata – the wonderful veterinarian I told you about.

Well as it turns out my sibings and I were in the critically dangerous phase of the Parvo Virus!!  If she had not saved us that day within hours of when she did it is almost certain we would have all died.  Patricia took me and three of my siblings home for a very long and intensive treatment involving many trips to see Premlata at the vet hospital.

We won against PARVO VIRUS with the help of Premlata and Patricia………….. Most say it’s a miracle that we lived and today I am a totally healthy young girl.  So you’ve learned something about me…. I am a SURVIVOR!    I believe I survived and met these angels who provided me an opportunity that most street dogs will never have…. a chance to find a family and live a fulfilled life – because I am special and my fate is to find my people and give them all the love, laughter, and joy that they need.

Today I am a healthy, vaccinated, and neutered young girl.

Notes from her first mom Patricia who fostered her in India for the last 10 months (or nearly all my life):

She’s still shy the first time you meet her, but day after day at our place, she’s one the most lovely and cute with our family.  Loves food – but dry food perfectly ok, playful specially with her K-9 friends and never, never, aggressive.

More dominated than dominant, she is a very good student too : walks on leash, car walks, veterinary visits, and the important words, Sit, No, Come (she has been raised with us in English and …. French !). It’s always a big event for her when we come back at home.

She loves sofas and like bath in Swimming pool when it’s too warm outside; and …..she’s friendly cats as we have two at home and has been raised with.

A soon as you want to cuddle her, she lies on her back, offer her belly and accepts all your kisses.

Sweet and cute Mindy will be your best lovely friend or as I tell her :

My little Daughter… Ma petite fille…..

Love,

Patricia xxx

Desi (day-see) dogs live on the city and village streets of India, with an estimated 400,000 in the capital Delhi, alone. Also called Indian Native Dogs or Pariah Dogs, these dogs have changed little over thousands of years. Desi dogs are highly intelligent, alert, good-looking, athletic, and full of character. Many urban Desi dogs have recent European breed ancestry too, along with sighthound sleekness and speed. It’s ironic that these incredibly adaptable, resilient, regal dogs have to look outside India to find adoptive homes, while status-conscious Indians buy “purebred” foreign dogs ill-suited the climate and conditions.
