Hello, my name is Ned! I’m an irrepressible 5-month-old Thai puppy full of vim and vigor, from Elfe’s World refuge for dogs on Koh Samui. In a few days I’ll flying across the world to meet you, so make sure you’re eating your Wheaties, and get ready for some super-strength charm!

Elfe’s World is the magical realm of my fairy godmother Elisabeth Feigl. Currently, there are almost 700 dogs at Elfe’s World—young and old, big and small, gentle and spirited—plus a multitude of alumni happily homed in Europe and North America. Some were rescued from smugglers in the dog meat trade, others were brought to Elfe sick or injured, and more were abandoned or saved from lives of abuse, neglect, and starvation. Elfe’s World is full to the seams with rescued dogs, and Elisabeth has said many times that she’s unable to take a single one more. Luckily for me, Elisabeth has the biggest, softest, stretchiest heart and was unable to say no when her staff rescued me from a dangerous life alone on the street. I was only 6 weeks old, and—as you can see from my early photos—completely irresistible, with adorable half-upright ears, a handsome black mug, and the cutest forehead wrinkles. I’ve still got ‘em!

From the start, I’ve been a little rascal, but so playful and loving that Elisabeth could see I was a special pup, with the ability to make gray skies blue. Not one, but two kind women, Karene and Karen, stepped up to sponsor me on the day of my arrival at Elfe’s, which, coincidentally, was March 23, National Puppy Day in the U.S.! So with my wonderful benefactors backing me up, I made myself comfortable. After my vaccinations were complete and I could be introduced to the other puppies, I immediately fell in love with a beauty named Gracie, one of my flight buddy Carlo’s sisters. We wrestled and romped for hours at a time, every day, entertaining Elizabeth and refuge visitors. Tragically, Gracie died unexpectedly, and after her loss, Carlo and I became best buds.

Carlo and I have taken our self-appointed job of keeping Elisabeth from getting too much sleep very seriously! We make sure that all toys are sufficiently broken in or torn apart. Since I’ll likely have to share goodbyes with Carlo when we get our own forever homes, I’d love to have a dog brother or sister in my new family, someone to tug and tousle with, and to cuddle up against when I finally get sleepy. I’ll  have lots to learn about becoming a house dog, and having a big canine sibling to show me the ropes would be a great way to start! I’ve relished my explorations of the tropical vegetation surrounding the refuge with Elisabeth, and crave a life full of action and adventure. I’m already an expert when it comes to enthusiasm; I hope you’ll welcome me with wide open arms and heart!
