Hey there! My name is Pinto and I’m a handsome 9-month-old desi puppy from Gurgaon, India. I’m named for my cute resemblance to pinto bean or a white-and-brown pinto pony. I’m super-playful, and thrive on attention from my human and canine friends, and with all of my puppy energy, I’d feel right at home with an active family. I’m a champion napper too! Between my high-speed and out-cold settings is my sweet spot—I will take all the belly rubs and cuddles you can give me, and I’ll pay you back—with interest—in wags and kisses!

My fairy godmother Jyoti told me the story of my mama’s rescue: My mother Hope was in a terrible car accident on a busy road, and was unconscious when Jyoti rushed her to the CGS Veterinary Hospital with skull fractures and a dislocated jaw. It was over 6 hours before she finally regained consciousness, and she remained in critical condition for several days. Once Hope stabilized, doctors discovered she was pregnant, and after a few more days Jyoti was able to bring my mama home.

Amazingly, considering all she’d been though, near the very beginning of 2018, my mama gave birth to 6 beautiful puppies, including me! Jyoti worked hard to find homes for each of us in India for over 3 months. Despite her persistance, she couldn’t find enough suitable adopters. Now, through Jyoti’s partnership with ISDF,  I flew to Chicago with my brother Obi and my sister Sriracha. Jyoti says our forever families are waiting for us there, for sure. Of all the siblings, Jyoti says I am the most pampered and loving; I think I might also be the hardest for her to let go.

I am current on neutered, current on vaccinations, and Micro-chipped.

Desi (day-see) dogs live on the city and village streets of India, with an estimated 400,000 in the capital Delhi, alone. Also called Indian Native Dogs or Pariah Dogs, these dogs have changed little over thousands of years. Desi dogs are highly intelligent, alert, good-looking, athletic, and full of character. Many urban Desi dogs have recent European breed ancestry too, along with sighthound sleekness and speed.
