GREAT NEWS….. Roy is HOME! Roy was rescued from the streets of New Delhi, India. He is now a family member of Lisa Dombrowski’s family of Green Bay Wisconsin.
Yes another ISDF Packer Backer – woot woot!
Lisa met Roy at Cedar Dale Pet Resort where he was being fostered. Roy was a little shy at first but Lisa fell in love with his cute little personality and good looks. She took him home and now he has settled into a routine with Lisa as if he has always lived with her.
As you can see from picture one of his fav past times is cuddling.
Thank you to Jyoti Chawla for rescuing this sweet boy and giving him this wonderful opportunity to live as a cherished family member. Chances of adoption in his home country India were slim to none so his only chance was overseas adoption.
You too can save a life …. www.istreetdog.com

My name is Roy and if given a chance, I can be your perfect cuddle partner and right hand man. I’m a handsome young Desi dog, with a dapper brown tweed coat and white-accented chest and throat, born just under a year ago on the streets of New Delhi, India. I’ll be arriving in Chicago soon!
I had a sad start to my life. When I was only a month old, I lost my mother in a brutal car accident. With no siblings in sight, and I myself being injured in that accident, my fate was in the hands of the almighty. Thankfully, a kind lady found me and rescued me from my grave predicament. She nursed me back to health then brought me to a boarding facility, and I soon found a lovely foster home. Just when I thought my troubles were over, my fosterers died unexpectedly and I was all alone, once again. I’m back in boarding now, still awaiting my family.
My caretakers swear by my cuteness. I’m a gentle boy, and unsure of new people at first, but once I know they’re friendly, I’m ready to play! Children and cats are still mysteries to me, since I haven’t had the chance to meet them. I crave company, be it human or canine, and I’m free with sweet kisses and hugs. I’m fit as a fiddle, and eager to learn and expand my horizons. After my early losses, I need to believe you’ll stick around, and I’d benefit from a canine sibling or two. Share your heart and home, and with no doubt, I’ll be your best friend for life!

Desi (day-see) dogs live on the city and village streets of India, with an estimated 400,000 in the capital Delhi, alone. Also called Indies, Indian Native Dogs, or Pariah Dogs, these dogs have changed little over thousands of years. Desi dogs are highly intelligent, alert, good-looking, athletic, and full of character. Many urban Desi dogs have recent European breed ancestry too, along with sighthound sleekness and speed.
With the extreme weather (damp, chilly winters, 115-degree summers, and monsoons), dangerous traffic, disease, human violence, and attacks from other dogs, most Desi puppies never make it to adulthood. Lack of awareness and cultural opposition to spaying and neutering continues the cycle of suffering. While most street dogs experience indifference at best, some neighbors and business owners look after their “community dogs.” Dedicated volunteer animal advocates and NGOs feed and provide veterinary care to as many dogs as they can in the face of overwhelming need. Few Indians see Desi dogs as suitable pets, opting instead for expensive and ill-suited European purebred dogs. It’s a great irony that more resilient and regal-looking native Indian dogs often have to travel internationally to find loving homes. Most of the Desi dogs that ISDF places could not survive on Indian streets due to early orphaning or injury, or have been rescued from especially threatening situations.
