Sweet and fuzzy little Sherr-bear has been adopted! Wow was that quick! After only being with us at ISDF for less than 24 hours! Sherri, now known as Sydney, is in the forever care of Kristi & David Zandt & their 4 loving children! It was without a doubt love at first sight once the family finally met Sydney & Sydney took to them full force right away! Sydney will also have a new k-9 friend, their dog Nina! And Kristi actually home schools all her children so this little pup will never be without company! How great! Good luck at your new home Sydney!
Pre-Adoption Rescue Story
Sherry is a 4-month-old-puppy who was born on the streets of New Delhi, India.
Sherry and her sister were rescued in the nick of time, lying on a very busy road late one night, with no family in sight to guide them to safety.
Dr. Choudhary and some of her rescue associates were travelling from Rajasthan to Delhi late at night this past November 5th when the headlights of their car fell upon two tiny puppies lying on the road, about to get mowed down by fast-moving vehicles.
Dr. Choudhary and friends hunted for the mother of the puppies, as well as their presumed other siblings, but their efforts were in vain. It was so dark out already that the doctor and her friends could not properly assess the puppies’ conditions. They scooped them up from the road and travelled back home (a 300
kilometer drive).
Once in Delhi, under the light of the examination room, they found both puppies to be bone-thin, full of maggots and fleas, with various wounds over their bodies. Dr. Choudhary and staff treated the pups for almost a full month before they made a full recovery.
Today, Sherry – as she was named – is a healthy, happy-go-lucky pup in need of a forever family to call her own. She is cute as can be and has a sweet, lovely personality. Sherry weighs approximately 18 pounds and will be around 35 – 40 pounds when fully grown. ISDF rescue partner, Sonia Heller, is fostering both puppies in New Delhi while they await their flight to the USA. Sherry and her sibling Sally arrived into Chicago on January 20th.
