YAAAHHOO!
Snoopy has found her furever home with Jonas Reger of Champaign, IL! Right after presenting Snoopy to Jonas you could see the love in Jonas’s eyes for Snoopy! Snoopy actually warmed up to Jonas quite quickly! Jonas has been on the hunt for a new best friend for awhile! And us here at ISDF can say without a doubt that Snoopy was meant for Jonas, two gentle souls have been united! Congrats on your new furever friend Jonas!

Big thanks to Elfes World and even bigger thanks to Jonas!

Rescue Story

This is Snoopy, an adorable and super-affectionate little female Thai street dog who was rescued from the horrific southeast Asian dog meat trade…luckily, she is now safe, but desperately craving a forever family to call her very own!
When Snoopy was rescued, she was in a ‘crush cage’ about to be illegally smuggled across Thailand’s border into Laos, and then Vietnam, where she would have been slowly tortured before being eaten – as adrenaline is thought to make dog meat more tasty. Today, against all odds, she is instead prancing with joy to be safe from harm!

The Thai Royal Police, suspicious of a large tarp-covered truck that was about to cross the northern border, discovered dozens of dogs huddling in terror and crushed into rusty wire cages like sardines. They were rescued and sent to an overcrowded government livestock center – saved, BUT NOT SAFE. Unfortunately many dogs cannot survive at these facilities due to overcrowding, lack of food and clean water, lack of medical care, and deadly diseases and dog fights.

A kind person saw Snoopy’s photo and saved her life. She was sponsored, received medical treatment, and was transported to the Thai island of Koh Samui.
Snoopy arrived at Elfesworld, a dog sanctuary, on June 17, 2013. She lives there today with nearly 700 other dogs, most of them fellow dog meat trade victims.

Snoopy is a petite 4-year-old spayed female, weighing just 22 lbs. Elfe describes her as playful and energetic, adorable, very clever, and affectionate with all visitors.

For over two years, Snoopy lived successfully in a large run with a group of small females. Out of the blue – or so it seemed at the time – her high energy turned into a bid for negative attention one day. As it turned out, she was unsprayed, much to Elfe’s shock (she thought it had been done previous to Snoopy’s arrival). After surgery, Snoopy moved to another large run with mostly males, but she has become depressed. This is a girl who – unlike many former street dogs, who can be painfully shy with humans – she is a true “people dog”.

Snoopy is lonely. She plays with her doggie friends and may do well in a home with other well-suited dogs, but she wants something different. She desperately vies for attention from visitors to the sanctuary because she clearly craves human attention and affection. And she has a lot of youthful energy to spend, so she dreams of joining an active, fun family.

Snoopy is one of the lucky few – she survived the meat trade AND the government shelter, and is under Elfe and her staff’s loving care. But being one of 700 dogs is not what this gal wants out of life.

The International Street Dog Foundation looks forward to welcoming Snoopy to Chicago with open arms. We know the perfect family is out there just waiting for her to join them and make them complete, and we cannot wait to see her in a forever home, at long last. Snoopy will arrive into the USA this coming Sunday, February 28, with fellow DMT survivor from Elfesworld, Danya. Both girls can’t wait to find forever families!
