GREAT NEWS…. TERESA is HOME.

Teresa was born on the streets of New Delhi, India. This week she joined Michael and Jill Maldarescu of Arlington Heights, IL.

Mike and Jill came over on a couple occasions to meet the dogs available for adoption. Teresa is the one who chose them. She is now a loved family member. She found her people …. her home!!

Teresa has been doing well in her new home and fell into a routine like she had always loved with Jill and Michael.

Thank you to Jyoti Chawla, Premlata Choudhary and Jagriti KA for helping Teresa on her journey.

You too can save a life.

My name is Teresa. I’m a 1-year old New Delhi sweetheart with dark brown eyes and the most adorable tall ears, and I’ll be arriving in Chicago soon. Sometimes my ears look like praying hands, and I pray I find a forever home with you!

Unlike the vast majority of Indian Desi dogs, I grew up loved, living as a family with two generous people who doted on me completely. I never had to worry about where my next meal would come from or where I could retreat to sleep. All of my needs were met and I was carefree. But, fate can be cruel. My human parents both died in an accident last month, leaving me all alone in the world.

In the midst of their grief, the extended family of my deceased parents had no interest in keeping me, and they dropped me off at an overcrowded shelter. I was terrified and overwhelmed when my rescuers first saw me. With pity in their hearts, they moved me to a boarding facility where I’ve been doing much better. But I miss having a home and boundless love. I hope to find a new family who can take the place of the one I so unfortunately lost and miss so much.

I am absolutely healthy and vaccinated, and ready to begin my new life. I’m a docile girl with nice manners, and I won’t hesitate to let you take the lead. My superpower is my ability to make friends with everyone, human and canine alike. After playing, I settle down nicely, and would like nothing better than to nap by your side. Can you picture me with you?

Desi (day-see) dogs live on the city and village streets of India, with an estimated 400,000 in the capital Delhi, alone. Also called Indian Native Dogs or Pariah Dogs, these dogs have changed little over thousands of years. Desi dogs are highly intelligent, alert, good-looking, athletic, and full of character. Many urban Desi dogs have recent European breed ancestry too, along with sighthound sleekness and speed.
