Hi I am Koko
I come to you from Sultanate of Oman, you most probably never heard of it! Oman is a small Muslim country in the Middle East! We are called the wadi dogs, a wadi is a trench of flowing water in between two mountains, you see we lived there and in remote beaches for so long, until humans started to expand in buildings and came and took over our habitat and wanted nothing to do with us! They want us gone, because we are considered dirty! And if they ever want to have a guard dog they will buy breeds and most of the times leave them out in the heat with little care if none!
I was living happily with my siblings, we don’t know where our parents are as most probably like most of the adult dogs never survive past 2-3 years on the harsh streets of oman, as it gets really really hot with no access to food or water apart of what we can salvage from the bins if we are lucky and of the waste water. One day a brown car came to where we live, and a guy in uniform started pointing a rifle at us, I heard a loud noise so I ran and hid under a car, my sister wasn’t so quick and she ended up bleeding and then she was lifeless on the ground, they shot me too, and all I could feel was warm red liquid seeping on my shoulder, I was terrified to make a move, so I stayed under the car without moving. After a while they left! And an hour later 3 more cars pulled close to where I was hiding, but this time the 6 people’s voices were kind they went to where my sister was laying lifeless and they started stroking her, few of them started crying, and two of them wrapped my sister in a blanket and took her to the bins, that was the kindest thing to do for her and they best they could do! Otherwise her body would have rotten for days in the same spot! Then they started looking around and they found me, I didn’t want them anywhere near me, as I was scared of all of them! They approached me and started speaking to me in tender and loving voices, I felt at ease but I still wouldn’t allow them to touch me. I was scared! I was sad! And I was alone! They didn’t give up on me and thank god for that otherwise I wouldn’t have made it so far! I was taken to a place where my wounds were cleaned, for the first time in my short life I had a decent meal and a nice blanket to lay on! Few days later I was taken somewhere else, with plenty of food and water that I didn’t have to go
looking for, I was stroked and loved and touched not beaten! Wow that feels amazing! Who knew life could be so good.
I knew that I was saved and that I knew that I was lucky to be out of the streets where I use to get beaten by humans and other dogs! You see I am a sweet natured girl I am submissive and kind I don’t like to fight but I was always picked up on by the stinger dogs on the streets as its a survival of the fittest world out there.
You can tell I am happy now as my tail constantly wags now when people are near. I have been told I am a very special girl with a very loving and sweet temperament – I guess that is why I have been saved from a most certain horrid fate. I love dogs, and know how to behave around cats, but mostly I love humans stroking me and loving me. I learned how to trust and be loved.
Koko is about a year old. Beautiful and sweet natured girl. she is spayed and fully vaccinated. Koko has many scars from her past but many are fading. Koko has never lived in a home before coming to the US but she is in safe construction site for a few months now. Therefore, she will need proper leash training but she is so smart and human orientated she will be a breeze to train. Whoever will adopt Koko will be a lucky home! As
Koko is one in a million dog She was spared for a reason as fate has better things in store for her. I think she will save a very lucky human as much as they will save her.
Koko arrives in Chicago on Feb 2, 2017
