Diva’s Rescue story as written by her rescuer Azza Alalk
Diva was rescued from the streets of Tunisia by a young volunteer of our association. One night, walking home she saw a skinny silhouette, in the street. She discovered a scrawny, frightened dog scavenging to survive. The young volunteer was devastated and made some phone calls to try and help Diva. She couldn’t shake the feeling that this sweet girl could be shot at any time by the local police which is a nightly occurrence number one reason for death of a street dog in Tunisia. She could not bear to take this risk and so she took Diva home with her to her apartment and next day she took her to the vet for grooming, vaccination, and de-worming . At the end of the day, showing how grateful she was to her new rescuer friend, our sweet Diva shared a kiss with her for having saved her . A few weeks later Diva was placed in an animal shelter, she is still waiting for a forever loving family to take care of her and give her an opportunity for a new happy life away from the scavenging and police shootings …a place far far away and one in which she can be free of fear and know the love of a family. She is about to embark on a long journey to Chicago in order to have her dreams fulfilled thanks to the efforts of Azza Alallk.
Diva is a beautiful young girl, approximately 1.5 years old and 40 pounds. She is a rare beauty and she is lucky to be alive today. There is a reason her life was spared. Life has better things in store for her…. in fact she has an amazing life ahead of her thanks to the efforts of so many. She will be traveling to Chicago in July 2017 to join her forever home and new beginnings.
