GREAT NEWS….. Mithi is HOME just in time for the holidays! Mithi was rescued from the streets of New Delhi, India. She is now a member of the Caroline and Mark Kennedy’s family in Traverse City, Michigan.

She now has a K-9 sister named Tess (dog on the left) and two human brothers named Vijay and Namith who were adopted from India. Little Mithi has completed their family and Namith is over the moon as Mithi was adopted on his request so she will be his dog. The training has begun and she is learning fast!

The whole family is overjoyed and so happy to have her home in time for the holidays. It will certainly be a magical Christmas for all.

It’s not too late to welcome your Christmas pup home. ISDF has many wonderful dogs waiting to find their homes. What a special gift it would be to have them home in time for the holidays. ❤️?

Thank you to all who have helped Mithi on her journey. Especially Isobel Grant, Aarti Bhardwaj, and Premlata Choudhary. You are all my inspiration. Most importantly thank you to the Kennedy’s for making Mithi’s dreams come true.

Pre-Adoption Rescue Story

STOP SCROLLING RIGHT NOW!! You’ve found me…the cutest best friend you could ever ask for!!  My name is Mithi, which means sweet, and I’m just the sweetest little 3.5 month old puppy from the streets of India.

My adoption story started a few months ago when a nice women in one of the colonies found me and my siblings.  She did her best to care and feed us, but unfortunately one of my siblings didn’t make it and I was hit by a car!! However, the car accident was a bit of a blessing in disguise, as it lead me to Happy Paws Medicare Boarding.

The angels at Happy Paws helped me heal from my broken jaw and now I’m a completely healthy pup who enjoys playing and running around the facility.

I am now at a foster home in Wadsworth, IL.  I have won the heart of my foster mom because  I’m such a sweet and loving little girl.  I have a very calm temperament and love to cuddle.  I’ve been through a lot in my few months of life, so if you can give me a loving home  and a warm lap than I will repay you a thousand fold with loyalty, love and fun.  You will see, the search would be over…you just found your new best friend!!

Desi (day-see) —or Indian— Dogs live on the city and village streets of India.  There are an estimated 260,000 street dogs just in the capital, New Delhi.  Also called Indian Native Dogs or Pariah Dogs, these incredible animals are intelligent, good-looking, athletic, and full of character!  In India, the dogs face extreme temperatures (damp, chilly winters and 115-degree summers), cars and other fast vehicles, disease, monsoons, and violence from people, as well as other street dogs.  Some “community dogs” are sterilized, vaccinated, and fed by volunteers, while most street dogs experience indifferent cultural attitudes and survive on their own efforts and luck.  Litters of pups are often drowned, buried alive, stoned, or removed from their mothers.  Most citizens do not know about dog sterilization and vaccination, and if they do, many cite religious beliefs against spaying/neutering.  In the cities, there is major cultural interest in the “superiority” of “purebreeds.”  Unfortunately, the labs, pugs, Dobermans, St. Bernards, boxers, and German Shepherds are frequently abandoned as many families do not have the funds, space, and knowledge about responsible long-term dog ownership.
