Hi my name is Wags and I was rescued from the streets of Bahrain. I arrived into the Chicago area in June 2019 to look for my forever home. I am approximately 5 years old and 40 pounds. I am as sweet as can be and get along with all dogs and people. You will fall in love with me if you come to meet me. I resemble a small golden retriever.
Wags’ Rescue Story
Hello my name is Wags and I have been at the BSPCA since I was just over 2 years old. I was born on the streets of Bahrain and a lady who does a lot of work with strays picked me up as part of their CNR programme. I was meant to go back out to join my pack but the BSPCA realised that I was such a lovely, gentle boy that it would be safer for me in the shelter. They thought they could get me a home quickly, as I was such a good boy. Although they are loving towards me and the other dogs, I would really like to have a nice warm basket in a home of my own. What I have seen with my own eyes is that the other dogs keep getting adopted and I haven’t yet.
I get a lot of attention from the volunteers but they never seem to stick and that always makes me a bit upset. Quite often the same people come to walk me every week and I get excited that I might have found my person, but then they stop coming and I have to start again. I have heard people say it is because they are only in Bahrain for a short time and then have to go back overseas to their own country. I don’t really know what that means but I wish that one of them would love me enough to take them with me.
I love to lay my head down on people’s laps and I also really like chewy treats. After a nice walk I love to have a quick paddle in the little pool and sometimes a real splash around! But my favourite favourite thing to have is a belly rub and I will roll over when I want one because it makes me feel just that little bit more loved. I am very trusting because I have been treated with kindness at the shelter. I love playing with other dogs in the outside exercise enclosure, get on well with my roommate and absolutely adore people. I walk well on the lead but also love to sit in the shade to be patted and fussed over.
I am now five years and 3 months old . I have been here for almost 3 years and I have been a patient and loyal boy waiting to get adopted. Please can you let me into your hearts and then into your loving home?
Woof woof Wags!
