Recently, Tina Smothers, adopted Mandy (aka Liberty) from ISDF. Mandy is a dog meat trade survivor who lived at Elfe’s World Dog Sanctuary in Koh Samui with over 650 dogs for over a year after her rescue. She came to Chicago to be rehomed as she was not faring well at the shelter and longed for more human interaction. The perfect home was found with Tina Smothers and Mandy is thriving in her new home. She now leads a pampered life filled with lots of love. This is the fate I wish for so many of our less fortunate dogs who are living out their precious existence in shelters in Thailand. Tina feels the same way. And that is why she started Love, Lucy which is dedicated in honor to her dog Lucy who recently passed on and was the love of Tina’s life. Lucy would have wanted to Tina to go on to help the less fortunate dogs. Tina makes handmade high quality dog ties (bandanas) to help the Thai dogs. A portion of all proceeds gets donated to 3 organizations: the International Street Dog Foundation, ElfesWorld, and the Soi Dog Foundation. The bandanas come in a wide array of beautiful patterns and collars. You can purchase Love, Lucy bandanas here. What a great way to shop compassionately for a good cause. Thank you Tina for giving back to the dogs of Thailand who so desperately need help. It was destined that Mandy ended up with you and I am honored to know you and call you friend.
